Alcatraz - YIKES!

So as mentioned in my previous post we visit San Fran and booked the night tour at Alcatraz. Last time I was in San Fran I missed out as they sell out pretty quickly so if your thinking about going make sure you book in advance, it was so much better than I thought it would be and well worth it.

You can book via the offical Alcatraz website and select from the different types of tours. The night is a little more expensive but its great to be over there when the sun is going down as you really get a feel for what it was like to be a prisoner on the island.

I did not go prepared and froze my arse off hence the humungous leather jacket I am wearing courtesy of The Puffin Man!! We went in the Californian summer so I would recommend taking something warm to San Fran in general as it gets cold towards the end of the day and especially on Alcatraz and the boat trip over - would hate to think how cold it gets in winter!!

It felt like alot of people on the boat over but once you get there they split you up into small groups and give you earphones so you hardly notice anyone else around you as your listening to the narrator - real voices from ex-inmates - through the headphones (best idea ever!)

You can pretty much go almost anywhere on the island apart from the areas they deem as unsafe but they are all blocked off anyway, they have toilets too which is a big plus given the 2 and half hour tour time.

Photos are below Enjoy!

NY Yankees and WWE wrestling!!

We were lucky enough to get NY Yankees baseball tickets and also the WWE RAW tickets whilst in NYC.
The baseball was exciting, so many fans everywhere and every second person wearing some kind of memrobilia. The first few times we caught the subway it was all a bit confusing but after the intial shock we got the hang of it and travelling around was really easy (not to mention SO much easier and cheaper than a cab!!)

We did however get lost on the way to the baseball as we asked this lovely couple that were wearing baseball gear where to go. They told us to follow them so we did and ended up on the opposite end of the city.. they were going to a different game! haha IDIOTS!

It was another really hot day so we spent most of the game up in the grand stand as opposed to our seats which were right down the front. I must admit I did get a little bored but its a tick on the bucket list for me and something that has to be done!!

Our second little outing was to the WWE RAW wrestling at the Barclays centre in Brooklyn. Caught the subway again (no issues) and arrived amidst the sea of fans. One thing I have learnt about Americans is that they LOVE any sport and are so patriotic and loyal!
Wrestling was great, I dont mind it so I really got into it :)
Also got to see John Cena which was cool and yep he is so much bigger in real life than on TV!!!

Next stop after this is CANCUN Mexico! Stay tuned :) :)

John Cena above!
